Help Rutherford County Plan its Future

Rutherford County is undertaking a revision of their comprehensive plan and it is a great opportunity for all residents to help shape the future of the county. PlanRutherford kicks off on March 1 with a celebration at the Lane Agri Park. Events are scheduled between 5:00p - 7:30p.

Rutherford County is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. Over the past 10 years, the county's population has grown by nearly 700 new residents per month. With the population projected to exceed half a million people by 2045, it is imperative that that the county has a plan for where and how growth takes place.

The update to the comprehensive plan is central to helping the County prepare for the coming growth. Addressing land use policies, economic development strategies, open space priorities, and capital improvements programs, local school capacity, and other government services and utilities, the plan truly takes a comprehensive view and allows the County to establish a holistic, long-term vision.

If you are a resident of Rutherford County, engage and let your voice be heard by attending the kick-off meeting and other events. Additional public meetings will be held throughout the Spring and residents will be able to provide input via online surveys.
