The Leiper’s Fork community is working to become a Tennessee Main Street community to support community development goals and attract business and tourism opportunities in its downtown corridor.
Through the merger of The Downtown Leiper’s Fork Association and The Leiper’s Fork Community Association, residents hope to gain recognition as a Tennessee Main Street community. In addition to the merger, Leiper’s Fork will form a Board of Directors and hire a full-time staff person to manage downtown events and promotion in accordance with specific goals and benchmarks set by the Main Street program. Main Street community status will provide opportunities for grants and marketing that otherwise would not be available.
Tennessee Main Street and Tennessee Downtowns Programs joins a growing national movement to improve the business climate in America’s traditional downtowns. Main Street works with these communities to provide technical assistance, training and guidance to improve the economic, social, cultural and environmental well-being of traditional commercial districts. The “Main Street Approach to Revitalization”™ guides communities to develop strong, broad-based local organizations and to create a road map for implementation and management of the revitalization process. CRT values our partnership with Tennessee Main Street and Tennessee Downtown programs across our region and state that support our shared goals for successful community revitalization and reinvestment through our Quality Growth Toolbox services.
