White House to Update Road Plan as Part of Comprehensive Quality Growth Strategy
The city of White House is in the planning phase of updating a 1999 roadway plan in order to help guide the city’s rapid growth. City planners are citing a desire for increased connectivity to Robertson County and supporting the city’s growth in the southern region as the main catalyst for updating the plan.
The road plan is part of the city’s larger comprehensive growth plan, which is designed to protect the city’s outside farmland and concentrate the city’s rapid growth – most of which is taking place in the Robertson side of White House.
Mayor Howard Bradley, who is trying to create a county-wide comprehensive plan, said in an Oct. 25 meeting that it was “great” that White House had developed their own plan, but noted that due to the rapid expansion on the Robertson side of the city, that White House’s plan and the upcoming county plan would have to be reconciled at some point.
Integrating City Planning with County Comprehensive Plans
CRT is currently working with Robertson County officials to make the comprehensive planning process efficient and as cost-saving as possible. This includes working with multiple municipalities to integrate existing adopted plans and encouraging others to support comprehensive plans for their own communities—thus streamlining the process and saving money for municipalities involved. CRT helped to navigate a similar and successful planning process in Maury County.
