Maury County: 2008 Agricultural Economic Profile

Employment in Agriculture and Forestry made up 4.4% of total jobs created in Maury County in 2008 with 1,897 total jobs in these sectors. Primary agriculture was the largest job creator with 1,594 jobs or 84% of total agriculture jobs created. Overall, the forestry industry created 190 jobs in 2008.

The value of Agriculture Outputs totaled $97M in 2008 and was 1.1% of the total Maury County economy in 2008. There were over $36M worth of primary agricultural products and services produced with cattle, poultry and dairy making up the top three producers with $25M. Ninety-four percent (94%) of the County’s secondary agricultural outputs consisted of nonwoven fabrics ($32M), apparel ($10M), and textiles ($9M).

The value of Forestry Outputs totaled $66M in 2008. Forest tract production was only a $2M industry with local sawmills creating 36 jobs. The most productive industrial sector was the paper laminating sector with $44M or 67% of the total forestry sector.

  • Other Property Type Income: Dividends, interest, rent, corporate profits, and capital depreciation
  • Indirect Business Taxes: All business taxes and fees paid to governments including sales and excise taxes
  • Total Value Added: Gross regional product derived from the income paid to the owners of the factors of production in the model year
