Fenton also explains that economic development helps the communities prepare for positive, Quality Growth. He notes that almost 1 million more people will live in the ten-county Middle Tennessee region by 2035 and that Chatham County will continue to get its fair share of growth. Fenton notes,
“It is important that we examine our resources and our projected growth plan, as well as continue to revise our plan as circumstances change. The resources include infrastructure needs, zoning, government incentives and other similar concerns, which are all vital to economic growth.”
